No it shouldn't need any special food. The most likely scenario is your plant is simply too young to flower yet. As it is a late summer flowering plant it probably won't flower until next year. Snail Vine's are very frost prone, so keep it nice and warm and some where sheltered, like under the eve of your house, to ensure it continues to grow well
